Hi Gavs
Must admit, I never heard of Annamm's make of smart phone either. I wonder if it's one of those Chinese models that's been forbidden to run Google Android. If that's the case, and I'm speculating here, then Now TV's app will not run on an unofficial/non supported version of Android.
Please note, my above speculation is based on a news story I heard a month or two back when the POTUS issued an edict banning the use of Google Android on all Chinese made own brand devices.

Thanks to all who have responded, I bought it here in the UK:

It uses android so not sure why they say it is not supported anymore

@Anonymous User the Xiaomi Mi-a1 was never released to the UK market so while I appreciate you bought it in the UK, it may have been imported from a European/Worldwide vendor prior to sale. This tends to happen with online sellers like Amazon or Gearbest. The only official Xiaomi vender in the UK is 3 mobile.
NowTV will only run on a phone running a UK specified operating system. It also won't run on an Android phone that has been rooted or running CyanogenMod.

The link you gave 404s for me 😥
Recent Chinese phones can have the latest version of Android, but can’t have access to the Google Play Store.
What month and year did you obtain it?
If the later version of the NowTV app can only come from the Google Play Store, the denied access may be why it is reporting as no longer supported.
