Chromecast registered as a device

Hi does anyone know why chromecast is shown as a device. It's not as if you can watch now tv with just a chromecast.

@kurtan because you don't need a mobile or tablet as a registered device to cast from. If you press the cast button before playing and never watch on your mobile it's one. If you watch on your phone it's two.

Because it's the Chromecast that does the actual streaming of the NOW TV feeds.

Whilst the the phone or tablet you use to control the Chromecast also counts as a device if you watch NOW TV on it separately (ie on the phone/tablet's screen), it isn't added as a device if someone only ever uses the phone/tablet to control the Chromecast.

If you aren't interested in watching on NOW TV on your phone/tablet itself and its already on your device list you can remove it and just have the Chromecast using a device slot if you wish. Just remember to always press the cast button in the NOW TV app first before choosing something to play.

The chromecast solution mentioned here simply isn't workable as casting drops out and suddenly you find yourself watching on the tablet.

It really isn't workable having chromecast being registered as one of your 4 devices.

Will I have the same problem with AppleTV and Ipad Airplay?

@Anonymous User I never had the Chromecast drop out. Sounds like poor wifi to the device with possible interference. Try to use the HDMI extender to move it away from the back of the TV and you might want to look at using a different wifi channel on your router (1, 6 or 11 being the first to try).
