New WiFi user.

7 days with new router - great on Ethernet to desktop - very POOR more than 15feet away. Get buffering in room below desktop & hardly works at all in downstairs front room.

@Ray1

Try splitting the bands, which should help speed and reliability.

Otherwise the router from NOW is known to be rubbish, your best to either; invest in a router yourself or wifi boosters.

All that NOW provide is the router. Nothing else.

FYI that I do not work for NOW, just a NOW customer trying to help

.. Did a band split and it works fine -- 5G via ethernet to desktop & 2.4G for tablet & phone - they are aware of what they are sending out & problems associated with it - very strange business model.. R

@Ray1

Ethernet is Ethernet, 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz are the two bands of WiFi.

So, when you split the bands, did you create two new SSIDs, or just one?

If just one new SSID, which band stayed with the existing SSID, 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz?

As I am interested in the mechanics of splitting the bands…

Set a Payment PIN on your account so that no-one but you can buy memberships on it.
Check your bank accounts monthly for any other unexpected payments to Now.
That way you can at least nip them in the bud, while you and Now figure out whose fault they are.

.. Thanks - still within the 14day period -- will switch again - maybe PlusNet or Shell. Ray

PlusNet have apparently got a new and improved router, however they no longer supply a telephone service. (AFAIK)

I hadn't realised at the time. but Shell also have a new router.

If it was me, if I would get the new router, I would give them a go.

Yes -- PlusNet are owned by BT - just as NOW is owned by SKY - after switching bands it's working fine now. Will just have to wait & see how fast they increase their prices to match sky ?  R
