Thread ‘Tplink VX1800V (VDSL/ADSL Modem Router)’ blows up

@SO58

Just to let you know this thread blows up for most of us, so whatever you just posted, we can’t read 😢

Now are aware of this.

Set a Payment PIN on your account so that no-one but you can buy memberships on it.
Check your bank accounts monthly for any other unexpected payments to Now.
That way you can at least nip them in the bud, while you and Now figure out whose fault they are.

This was posted on the TP lik support forums, by a TP link rep

https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/658064

message reads as follows, posted just under 2 weeks ago by a TP link rep

"Thank you for your inquiry. After consulting with our senior engineer, we have confirmed that the beta firmware is expected to be available within 1-2 weeks.

We are committed to providing the firmware as soon as possible and will make every effort to meet this timeline."

Still listed as "coming soon" on th UK site:

@RoyB not sure why this has happened, I just copy and pasted the workaround from a tp-link CS agent. I can post link here:

I don’t think it was anything you did or didn’t do - more like something at Now’s end,

Anyway, it’s fixed now, though the postings at the original start of the thread seem to have gone missing,

**** SOLUTION ****

When connecting the Archer VX1800v to Sky Broadband (UK) or NowTV MER line and configuring it through the web interface, the "Sky(MER)_VDSL" option is missing from the Quick Setup ISP list. If you select "Other" and configure it, it does not work.

When configuring it through the Tether App, the "Sky(MER)_VDSL" option is available, but there is no option to add a username and password, resulting in no connection.

Workaround:

If you are experiencing the same issue, please try installing the beta firmware below for the Archer VX1800v.

You can download the firmware from the following link: Archer VX1800v_V1_240326

Note: Please be sure you have read the Terms and Conditions for TP-Link Beta Firmware before proceeding.

After installing the firmware, please configure the router using the web interface. Select the ISP "Sky (MER)_VDSL" option and proceed with the setup.

Please note that the current beta firmware does not support Sky MER configuration through the Tether App.
