Postcode problems

I have been unable to sign up for Now broadband because the Now system does not recognise my postcode. RoyalMail.com and openreach.com both have the correct address but Now say I live in another town. They cannot sign me up. Ridiculous !

@Lostforwords

Call the broadband team to see what they can do.
It is possible that NOW might not be able to supply broadband to your property.

FYI that I do not work for NOW, just a NOW customer trying to help

@Lostforwords Are you with another provider currently? If so ask them to make an ORDI request.

The only problem with that is I am currently with Sky who are also Now. What is an ORDi request?

Now have told me they cannot register me as a customer because the postcode is coming up with the incorrect address on their system. I have asked to speak to a supervisor and I am told someone is looking into it.

ORDI = OpenReach Data Integrity. If you cannot switch to another supplier because of address issues, regardless of who they are, then there is probably a mismatch on the database. So go back to Sky and tell them you you are having issues with switching and insist that they make an ORDI request through the Openreach portal.

@gavs82008 I’ve had broadband for years. I was previously with Sky which is the same company as Now. I’m currently with Jurassic Fibre and they don’t use my phone line. Other providers didn’t have a problem with my postcode. When I try to sign up for Now broadband it says I live in the neighbouring town of Exmouth three miles away and that’s where they would install the system. Seems ridiculous. I’m with Now TV and they also use the wrong address but that doesn’t affect delivery of the service. Can’t see what an ORDI request to Jurassic Fibre will achieve when they have my correct address.

@Lostforwords   Postcode mis matches can be a pain in the rear, however one seemingly throw away remark may give a few big clues:

You say you are with Jurasic fibre - and they dont use your phone line.

Jurasic fibre are what is known as an alt-net that is they dont use openreach ( formerly BT) cables

A few questions - why do you want to move to Now broadband and leave Jurassic fibre?

What package are you trying to sign up to with Now broadband?

Is your area in an openreach copper stop sell zone?

Hi
Thanks for your response. Firstly I wanted to switch to Now from Sky but was unable to do so because of my postcode, which I found irritating. I’m now with Jurassic Fibre and am very happy. However, after my failure to join Now Broadband I checked my Now TV account and discovered that the address is incorrect and they have me living in neighbouring Exmouth. So I asked them to change my address on my account and they said I had to contact my previous provider to make an ORDI request.
As Sky is also Now and my current provider is on a different network I’m at a loss to see what that has to do with correcting my address on my TV account.

If They (now ) have the wrong address for you, even if its just the TV account, you can ask them to rectify this, under GDPR they are required to hold upto date and accurate information including  your personal address.

The phrase/term for this is to send Now a data rectification notice
