Broadband setup. Phone line.

I'm having my broadband and phone line setup in a few weeks but we don't want a phone line.

Does the setup need a phone line as we have Virgin broadband currently with no phone line and don't want anymore boxes or holes made into new cladding on the front of the house. Inside the house has recently been decorated also and don't want any boxes attached to the walls.

Thanks.

Hi @Anonymous User

To use the internet from companies such has NowTV, Sky, BT, Plusnet, Talk Talk etc that use the BT Openreach infrastructure you need to have a BT telephone line and master telephone socket box for the internet to work.

The telephone line is the means of delivering the internet to your home.

You don't have to have a landline telephone connected if you wish, but the telephone cable and telephone socket needs to be installed inside your property.

Or otherwise look at another means of getting internet to your home that doesn't use a  BT Openreach telephone line, where your options are limited.
