How do I know my device is protected with Buddy?

Hello, I have set my father up with Now TV Broadband and activated Buddy by setting the age controls so he should be protected from viruses and phishing. My concern is that I can't see on his device that he is protected on his wifi. I have BT broadband and it shows me that my wifi address is protected but I can't seem to see this with Now TV. I would contact them but can't see anywhere where it gives contact details which doesn't instill confidence. Is anyone able to help me find where it shows he is protected as he is elderly. Thank you in advance.

Hi @Anonymous User

I don't use NowTV Broadband Buddy myself on my NowTV Fab Fibre service and rather have it switch off.

My guess once you set the age or custom setting under your Father's NowTV Broadband account it would pop up a message on screen if attempting to visit a website which is out of the age related parameters and block access to that website for example.

There are a number of ways to contact the NowTV Broadband Team which are shown in various sections on your Father's account when going into for example Broadband & Calls, Orders & Appointments etc.

To save time use this link below (though it says Complaints) it will still get you to the NowTV Broadband Team.

If you phone them or use live chat they may ask for your Father (account holder) to be present during the discussions.

Using the web form on the link might be the best option to get the ball rolling to see if you get a reply that fully answers your questions (unless a NowTV Broadband forum member on here who uses the Broadband Buddy feature can fully describes how it works).

Thank you for your advice.

Broadband Buddy works at the router (NOW TV Hub) level, so once it’s turned on (& configured to your required settings) *all* devices (desktop computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones etc) connected to the internet via your router (whether by ethernet or Wi-Fi) are protected by those settings.

In addition to Broadband Buddy, it’s advisable to also use some anti-virus software - and some common sense (where appropriate)...

Thank you for your help. I think we need to look at anti virus as well as Buddy.
