Can't connect box to Virgin

We have tried to connect the Now TV box to our Virgin Wifi. This is very disappointing to our 10 year old lad who got this for Christmas. It will connect to wireless network but not the local network or internet. HELP

No sound from now tv

I've tried all of advice, switch off and on, disable the screensaver, unplug the cables. Still no sound and it worked earlier!?! Please help! Kids are gutted! Its a black box and I have a smart TV not an old one!
