Out of curisoity who is your broadband provider.
Perhaps try the steps in this trouble shooting help guide (ignore step 4 and to factory reset the smart box push and keeping holding in the small reset switch for about 20 secs on the bottom of the smart box).

Try the trouble shooting steps in the help article link and also have a read of this thread where Virgin Broadband customers have encountered difficulties connecting their smart box to their Hub Router since a recent nowtv firmware update.
Perhaps try all of the suggestions on this thread below, which might get your smart box up and running again.
