I'm incensed; I took out a 3 month £1 p/m offer on Now movies. Now a day after the second £1 payment they have taken £6 for something called "NOW boost', without me ever asking for it.
I have cancelled my movie subscription and the boost immediately, so they will get no more, but it's an absolute nightmare trying to get the £6 that was taken without consent returned.
No phone number, just a chat bot window that hangs constantly saying "Waiting to chat" with three pulsing dots. Perhaps it's because it's a Sunday, but even so, why keep me hannging if the service is not available? do I have to sit staring at the computer monitor all day just in case someone/thing responds?
This will likely be the very last time I take one of their deals, I've done it twice before then cancelled at the end of the deal.
Honestly, the movie selection was barely worth the £1 let alone £6.
And while £6 isn't much money, this is more about trust, I only want companies I can trust having my payment details. If I can't trust them not to randomly help themselves to my money whenever there's 'an error' then they don't get my business.

Hi @SC44
Sounds like you got an email offer has discussed by this on the HotUKDeals website (see link below).
Where there was a free 1 month Boost including in the email offer and if you don't cancel the Boost in the first month it then goes up to the standard monthly charge of £6 per month.

Hi @RoyB
The thing is you can remove the one month free Boost option from the NOW offer when going to the checkout screen page where there is an option to remove the free month Boost if you wish by clicking the "remove all" link below the Boost breakdown before clicking on the Checkout button to purchase (see screen shot 1).
NOW normally provides this option to opt out of free trials or free one month Boost when bundled with a TV Membership during the checkout process on their website offers also has their email offers sent to customers.
Screen shot 2 shows a current website Sports Offer has an example with one month free Boost, where Screen shot 3 shows that I removed the one month free Boost from the checkout summary because I decided I didn't want the free one month Boost.

Thanks @schnapps
Though I wonder how many new subscribers would feel a bit apprehensive about cherry-picking in that dialogue.
Nice to see it is there, though.

@redchiz1 wrote:LOL, not sure of your maths, let's call it 50p per day to get HD and multiple devices? 😉
1080p - 720p = 360p, which is what the £6/mo for Boost buys you, so each extra 60p costs £1.
Boost brings you other things, but they are free with the HD 😛
Or doing it your way, 50p a day for the Boost extras, 3.3p a day for Cinema
There’s a tail wagging the dog in here somewhere, either way 🐩🦮

Exactly HOW & WHERE did you cancel Boost please"?
17-08-2023 14:47
Just like any other Membership.
From your avatar above top right, select Manage NOW Account.
From the top box shown there, Your Membership, select Now Membership.
One of the boxes there will be Boost.
Select Cancel Boost.
Reply to all further blandishments by pressing “I’d still like to cancel”.
Keep doing that (about four times is usually necessary) until you have completed Cancelling.
Check that you have had an email from Now confirming this.
If things above proceed as I describe, please return here and confirm success. But if they don’t, please let us know when and where and how things went pear-shaped.

Just go to My Account and cancel anytime before the free month elapses.

You have been told by three fellow customers how to manage and cancel your membership(s). Are you still unclear?

I am still concerned. Why is Now so complicated. I’m fearful of taking on another £1 pm offer.
How can I return to this helpful conversation thread if I need to or must I copy & paste all the replies etc?
