No wifi even after activation date

Really at my wits end here. Activation date was the 21st, the wifi connection hasn't worked at all, called them on the 22nd, was told it was a problem with the end user and that an openreach engineer visit was needed so we booked one in for the next day from 13:00-18:00. The engineer never arrived, rang again, was told the engineer was never going to come as openreach had told Now that there was no need for the engineer to come. So took a half day for nothing, and was told to wait a further 48 hours. The 48 hours are slowly coming to an end and still no connection. Is there any advice to get this connection active, day 4 with no wifi and slowly going insane.

Stuff happens, though maybe more so with Now Broadband than other providers, maybe not.

But Now are beholden to Openreach, as is any ISP who would like to serve you over the Openreach network, though Now aren’t on Openreach’s top priority service.

However, in the meantime, using your mobile phone as a hotspot may tide you over, if you have a suitable data plan.

Set a Payment PIN on your account so that no-one but you can buy memberships on it.
Check your bank accounts monthly for any other unexpected payments to Now.
That way you can at least nip them in the bud, while you and Now figure out whose fault they are.

I think the worst part of all of this is not being told the actual issue is and being left in the dark and just being told to wait. If it is an Openreach issue they have to just say it

When the network or broadband is down it is always an OpenReach issue. All NOW are is the middle man to give you said connection via OpenReach, albeit it with a really poor router.

FYI that I do not work for NOW, just a NOW customer trying to help

@elynch17  If your Wifi is down, then you should connect via ethernet to the router and log in there to check via the router config pages to see if you have an internet connection and from there configure the wifi , or connect via ethernet

For many people, ‘WiFi’ is synonymous with ‘internet’, so when they say their ‘WiFi is down’, it is necessary to look carefully at the context to see if you can tell whether it really is just their WiFi, or if it is actually the link back to Now from their router 😢
