Now TV app on LG TV “Sorry there was an error in the player”

Hi. App was previously working but recently we’ve been unable to watch anything through NOWTV app on LG TV: I’ve signed out of account, rebooted TV and router multiple

times, reinstalled the app.

Just keep getting the “Sorry there was an error in the player” message. Please help! Thanks.

So I have an lg TV and the app is working fine which I know doesn't help but there are some quirks I've had with the TV itself over the years that has affected apps particularly after updates.

1. Double check your location - settings>general>location. If the field is blank, enter the first part of your postcode and press enter. It will ask you to retune the TV.

2. Untick and then retick the end user agreement. It may sign you out of app accounts when doing this.

3. If you have an LG account on the TV, sign out.

4. If you are using a ethernet cable, check in settings that it is working and hasn't set itself to WiFi only. Check that IP is set to 'automatic'.

5. Free up some memory by going to the web browser, settings and 'delete history'.

Failing all of these, the only other thing which someone has said worked for them is to do a factory reset.

Mine worked fine yesterday but today, nothing. Cannot play a thing.

this is ridiculous.

you need to sort this out. Surely an update of the app would fix this?

Ours is exactly the same, it won’t let us in says an error in the player

Hmm odd it now appears to have been fixed. Only thing I could think is the WiFi network was reset. Not sure otherwise why it’s suddenly started working.

Alas no magic fix here, definitely down to the LG update.

Similar issue. Performed factory reset, that forced the now tv app refresh. Re enter now tv login, now works. Note ALL saved series / favourites will be deleted so make a note of series and episodes before the reset

We've been having the same issue for about 3 weeks on our 2 year old LG TV. We're loathe to do a factory reset as we have a fair few apps plus lots of parental control settings on our TV that we don't really want to re-set up again.

We've therefore cancelled our Movies pass. If we can't watch Now TV on our actual TV then it's pretty useless for us. We have lots of other choices so might not even miss it!

Having the same problems, had an online chat which dropped off three times. NowTV told me they will not be supporting LG TV's anymore and I should have had an email (not).

They then gave me an incident number and said I would be contacted within 72 hours, that was over 110 hours ago, not impressed by the service from NowTV.

They are no longer supporting Netcast (pre 2015) LG TVs.

Awaiting a fix from LG about the WebOS TVs which have the issue since the recent LG update.

Right bit the bullet, reset both TVs back to factory and set everything back up. Can confirm NowTV is working again.

Has anyone sorted this.

I have removed the app and tried everything on the list.

What I do notice is if I try to play live tv it fails then plays Sky news but I get same error if I change channel. Movies and entertainment wont play.

It looks like I will be cancelling Now TV if I can not get it to work.
