I downloaded the app and have paid for the 24 hour sports membership and the payment has taken, now it is saying I still don’t have the relevant membership to watch. Any idea how to resolve this 16mins before the match I signed up to watch starts? The help chatbot is no help at all.

Assuming the Day Sports Membership is showing on your NOW online account, then perhaps open the NOW App on your iPhone and click on the gear wheel icon and sign out, then sign back in with the account you used to buy the Day Sports Pass.
If that doesn't work, maybe try a fresh NOW App download from your phone Apps Store and once fully downloaded power down the phone for a minute, then power back up and sign back into the NOW App on your iPhone.
Also if using a VPN then disable it.
