Why has Games of Thrones season 1,2,3,4,5 gone from nowtv?
I'm no longer able to view it!
Hi @Anonymous User
game of thrones has gone due to content rights. NowTV are only allowed to have content available for a certain amount of time, after which they must remove the content. Due to the agreements they have with content rights holders in the case of game of thrones, the rights holders are HBO. HBO content is also some of the most expensive content around, especially game of thrones, so even if NowTV could keep it. The cost of keeping it would probably become prohibitive after a certain point, which means it could only be kept at the expense of losing other content.
The slightly better news is the game of thrones box sets will probably be back in February/March next year just before season seven starts
It has been known for a long time that the expiry date of the game of thrones box sets was June 13 most devices show the expiry date of content and if content is going to expire within the next 30 days. You will see an expiry countdown on all devices and also the now TV website. I myself warned people over three weeks ago that the box sets where going to expire

Of course no guarantee when those sites will have the latest episodes.
Based on previous experience I'd expect the online purchase of single episode for season 6 to be available within weeks with iTunes, Google Play, Amazon Instant Video (not prime) etc. Then DVD/Blu Ray Feb/March 2017

I would be interested to see any evidence that Now TV pretended Game of Thrones would be available beyond the stated expiry date.
If this has solved your issue please mark this as an accepted solution.

I see a whole lot of these threads. I think the real issue here is not that people dont see the expiry dates on their boxes or the forum threads etc but it seems to be more that many people buy these boxes in order to watch a programme series not knowing before hand that the programme is about to expire.
Stores/reatilers dont provide this information to customers, the boxes get advetsied with current content but dont make it clear that things expire. In fact this just happened to a friend of mine, she went and bought a box to watch Criminal Minds, she installed the box, signed up, applied the voucher then went to watch only to find she had 3 days to watch 10 seasons or something. Sage to say she was not happy and if she had of known this before hand then she would not of bought the box.
I think NowTV should update their packaging to make this more clear to cutomers buying boxes. The majority of new customers do not know or understand how the content/expiry dates work, or even know that content have dates. Obviously they cant sit and update it with dates everytime there is a change in listings but it should be made very clear that the content advertised does expire and may not be available when they buy the box. Maybe they would get less compaints here then.

Hi
I also signed up to watch the Game of Thrones boxsets- and although I did notice the messages about how many days left to watch, the countdown matched my 2 week free period so assumed this was how many days left before subscription started - I will also be cancelling my subscription as it's not clear in the NowTv publicity that some boxsets are only available for a imited time period.

Hi @Anonymous User
Just saw your comment and wanted to check in on something you've highlighted.
To be clear, our retail packaging for boxes does not advertise any specific shows. If you have any examples of this happening, please let us know and we will rectify it as we certainly don't want to confuse anyone.
We also stop advertising content across all marketing channels weeks before it expires. You should not see any adverts in retail for NOW TV regarding Game of Thrones, for example, as we stopped promoting it over a month ago. Again, any examples you have of this are appreciated, as we can fix any incorrect messaging out there.
Hope this makes sense. Please get back in touch if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Jason

From the top of Google search today 27/9/2016 - paid ad from NowTV:
Game of Thrones Online – Stream Live & On Demand to any Device
I think you owe me a refund for my Smart Box or a new 5 month pass that I can enable when they come back online.

Hi @Anonymous User,
Thanks for posting.
This was reported to Google and should have now been removed.
If you've started to use the service already we wouldn't be able to refund what you've bought, this would also be the case if you've bought this from a shop rather than direct from us.
Thanks
Simon
