Tried to swap accounts to a new property to be told I'd have to set up a new account because the account is staying at the property with the new owner of the house. I'm a week a way from moving day and find this very strange someone can take over my account.

You are not swapping the accounts toa new property, you need to ask to move Now broadband to the new address if you are the bill payer, see here :

Do not mention swapping accounts, as that is not what is happening and that will only confuse things, read what it says in the linked guide and that is what you need to do
