Too many glitches

Received an email stating the start date will be moved to the already agreed start date.
I see on my billing that they have taken the 1st months payment, but then 2 weeks later there will be another charge of just over half a months payment.
Also received an email stating I have an overdue payment.
Call up to ask whats happening, they say "there is a glitch, I will remove the 2nd payment but you are overdue for the 1st payment".
Asks me to type the long number of my card into the phone, which I do, and then says there is a glitch on his side and that he will call back...
He calls back from a different number and asks me to type my card details in.
I asked if I could pay online, he said I couldn't.
Told him I don't feel comfortable giving my card details on a separate phone call from the one I originally called.
He said that if I don't make the payment, the service will be restricted until resolved and this is the only way to pay.

Is this legit?
