Engineer's showed up today, couldn't find the bt socket, left said he needs to come back with the cherry picker, will be today or tomorrow, called support 3 times, been told 3 different things one bashed the phone on me, got a message saying the engineer installed everything yet he hasn't done nothing, found the bt socket after, plugged the router in, internet light doesn't come on, what am i supposed to do
No, the engineer wont "leave" you with a telephone, it's something you supply yourself.
The engineer would be from Openreach, and Now will have no idea what they may, or may not. do.
However. if you have been told the engineer completed the job, there is something wrong.
You (as the end user), can't contact Openreach, you have to work through Now, so Now support is the only way you can chase updates.
If you are getting nowhere with standard support, I can only suggest raising an official complaint.
