So I think it might be more due to the garbage routers that NOW/Sky love to use, but every now and again I'm finding I'm getting less than 10 Mbps speeds with my internet (both wired and wireless), however after a power cycle on the router it seems to come back to its senses and gets a proper speed.
It's like the router just suddenly decides to throttle the inbound line for no particular reason, and quite frankly when you're working from home (like a lot of people do now) it's just taking time out of your day to sort out an issue that isn't even your fault and yet something that only you can fix yourself!
Basically - the routers are proper shoddy, start using new routers.

You won't get any form of staff giving updates on here in relation to broadband. It has never happened in my time of using the forum.
Below are some standard things you can and probably have done before calling the team.
Have you done a factory reset to the router indicated in the link below?https://help.nowtv.com/article/improve-broadband-speed
This link also shows any planned outages as well wide spread faults.

You need to call the broadband team. See link for number.

I know Now routers are crappy, but what you are describing is a pretty unique type of crappy that these routers don’t usually exhibit.
So if I were you, I would get onto Now Broadband and ask for a replacement one.
Oh, and WFH over domestic broadband is like running a Ford Fiesta when what you need is a Transit 😛
