Activation dates

My activation date was 25th July. On the day I had a phone call from an engineer asking me to set up the router. I did but the engineer cannot activate my account. A BT OpenReach engineer came to check my house line and found no fault and that the fault was elsewhere. He said he'll pass on the information. After many phone calls I was given a second activation date. The same thing happened. Many phone calls later I was promised that activation will take place this weekend. Guess what. Nothing happened yet again. I sometimes work from home and need internet connection and a land phone. Can anyone help or direct me to the proper channel for help? Their customer services and technical support is next to useless. Thanks
