I have paid by PayPal, recieved receipts from both them and Now. When I choose a show to watch I am asked to pay, the same amount, again

Have you gone to the My Account tile box on the bottom grid row and signed in with the NOW account details you used with PayPal.
Also sometimes a fresh log out and power down of your playback device and a re login may remove the message.
Also i am assuming you are not using a VPN and are in the country.
