Hi
I'm brand new to steaming tv. Using a Roku streambar on the tv in my lounge and a Roku stick on the tv in my kitchen. Everything is working great.
However, if I exit the Now app on Roku in the lounge (ie stop the programme, exit back to the Roku home screen and turn the TV & streambar off) I can't access now on the Roku stick in the kitchen for at least 5 minutes! It tells me I'm still streaming on the first device even though I'm not.
I don't have Boost and don't want it as I'm not trying to watch on two devices at the same time.
None of the other apps used via a Roku device do this, they all just immediately let me stream on the new device. The issue is only with the Now app.
Please note I have properly exited the Now app before trying to watch on the next Roku device.

Firstly boost is NOT just about getting 3 streams instead of one. It’s about removal of third party adverts from on demand content, as well as 1080p and 5.1 sound on relevant devices. You should have a nosy at this which explains the purpose of boost.

PS I’m only paying £2 a month for it thanks to the “cancellation” process.
Unless you have boost I’m afraid what you’re seeing is correct from what I remember with other forum users posting it. Should it be more instant absolutely, however I would rather they give us profiles since every other major streamer does 😡

Thanks for the reply gavs82008.
Well that's utter rubbish isn't it?! Nowhere does it say there will be up to a 10 minute lag when accessing NOW content between devices.
I'm currently only subscribed to Hayu through NOW, so will cancel NOW and access Hayu on its own app. Shame, as I was going to subscribe to Entertainment on NOW, but I can't wait up to 10 minutes to access the telly in each room.

@jak
Tell me about it bud, they had 2 streams at once until over a year ago which as you can imagine was a highly unpopular decision by NOW.
Not sure how the Hayu app works, but hopefully a cleaner exit will keep it in sync with other services and you’ll be able to watch on another device in no time!

Hi @jak
Bit of a long shot, what happens from watching something on NOW, you then press the back button on the remote until you get to the NOW home screen page, then exit to the Roku home main screen.

Hi @schnapps
This is what I've been doing, stopping the programme, going back to the NOW homepage, then back to the Roku Homepage. Still takes at least 5 mins to be able to stream NOW on my next device 🙁
I tried customer services this morning. Worst experience of "help" I've ever had! Even though I was live chatting a person not a bot, he kept giving me bot answers which were irrelevant to my issue. In the end I was told to do factory reset on my Roku device, remove the NOW app, sign out of both accounts blah blah. Both my Roku devices are brand new, only 4 days old, and are working beautifully. I'm not about to upset everything and have to re-sign in to all my apps again because NOW can't get their act together.
I'd only subscribed to the 7 day free trial of NOW, so have cancelled it 🙁. Watching what I want through Hayu direct app, rather than Hayu through the NOW app. Hayu app is working great as a stand alone.
I live on my own, so intend to cable HDMI through a splitter to all the other TVs. When that's done and I can mirror my main telly I'll rejoin NOW as then the lag issue won't apply.

For live chat you need to make sure to click “chat online” within the green box, don’t hit “get help quicker” as this is a bot.

That being said, as you’ve only joined on the free trial and cancelled it you’ve done what is right for you. It’s a shame NOW has the timed delay on switching devices and wouldn’t be too much of an issue if they kept the number of streams without boost at 2.

I was def live chatting a person, because I asked him if he was a bot or a person and he replied he was a person LOL. But then he kept giving me answers for issues about NOW not working on Roku, when it was working absolutely fine, but didn't answer my issue about the lag between devices. After 20 mins I'm afraid I was so fed up I just hung up and cancelled my subscription.
Hayu is working great with no lag between Roku devices.

Hi @jak
I thought you might be pausing the NOW stream and then jumping out of the NOW App straight into the Roku Main home screen without pressing the back button a couple of times when watching NOW to get back to the NOW App Home screen.
I have Boost and can't really test this out quickly and don't want to fire up and run four devices in my home to test this for myself.
This NOW link article mentions about a 10 minute delay when switching devices and says the method on how to avoid the delay, but you reckon you are following this.
https://help.nowtv.com/article/managing-my-devices
Sorry can't help any further, perhaps if live chat are no help send an email to NOW.
Or stick with the Hayu App and subscribe to Hayu directly.

Hi @jak
When you say you stop the Hayu stream on NOW using the Roku, I am assuming you are pressing the back button on your Roku remote to stop the stream, where there is no physical stop button (only pause which you don't want to do) and hitting the back button should stop the stream.
