New interface: "Captions" menu

Can anyone explain whether this captions option (within the Settings menu) works? I don't remember it being there before the upgrade. It seems to suggest subtitles (ie captions) are now finally available. Tried it on a random Now TV film and nothing. Anyone?

That option has always been there but he only works for apps that support it. Unfortunately now TV don't support subtitles/closed captions Smiley Sad
