@Anonymous User you say everything, disabling pings? Renaming the 5GHz SSID to something else? Enabling Guest Wifi and connecting to that instead? Normally one of those three things will get you working.

If you have a mobile device that can create a WIFI connection, set this up and connect your NOW TV Box to this.
The NOW TV Box will connect and most likely run a few updates, once updated disconnect your phones WIFI, carry out a reset of your NOW TV Box , connect to your home WIFI and fingers crossed it all works for you.

hi ive bought two boxes now on the advice of "experts" saying this is a system fault.
neither of my boxes will connect to local network!! any advice!! TIA.
