Letterbox on Cinema APPLE TV

When watching a film on Now Tv app on Apple TV there’s letterboxing. However when watching entertainment it’s fine. Does anyone know why this is

Hi @jamesj015

 

The reason being the films that you watched on NowTV was in an aspect ratio of 21:9, where the TV show was shot in 16:9.

 

Also if you went to the Gold Entertainment channel a lot of old content would be seen in the older format 4:3 ratio with black bars down each side when using a modern day wide screen television.

When I watch the same film on a different streaming device the letter
boxing isn’t there

Out of curiosity what is the name of the movie so i can check it out for myself on my various devices.

 

I do own an old Apple 3 box, but it's not one of my registered devices and don't want to use one of my spare device slots to check on the Apple TV therefore will take your word on it the movie plays in 21:9 letterbox.
