Our broadband and line rental contract with NOW TV is due to end soon and we are thinking of moving to Shell Energy. However, Shell Energy say that we cannot keep our existing landline number, which we’ve had for more than 12 years, because NOW TV won’t release it! BTW we are not moving house. NOW TV have told us that is incorrect and the real reason that we cannot keep our existing number is because it has already been ported more than 2 times. Is this correct? NOW TV referred us to BT but they say it’s absolutely nothing to do with them.
Does anyone have any advice please?
You should be able to port, in theory.
My suggestion would be to raise the question on a more specialist forum/site sch as ISP review forums https://www.ispreview.co.uk/talk/ and Kitz https://forum.kitz.co.uk/
One other thing..
I too have had a contract renewal email from Now, saying "Based on wat you have" a 12 month deal for over £30 a month followed by a lot of text , and then underneath more text, followed by a price of £21 month on a rolling 30 day deal, with a discount period expiring 12 months later.
So a renewal "deal" for 12 months that is more than i have been paying, or stay were i am on a rolling contract and pay the same price for another year
I have had a little poke about on the web, but I cannot find any reference to a porting count limit.
So if you doubt what Now are saying about such a limit, I suggest you ask Ofcom, who regulate these matters, as here:-

Please let us know what you find out!
