Welcome to the forum.
You are right you will be able to watch your pass before the activation date, but if you've just signed today it will still take a day or two to set everything up, particularly over a weekend. Give it a day or two and you start receiving emails, see your pass active and seeing progress being made on order via your My Account > Track my order page.
