Pelican Brief: wrong rating and broken transfer

The 12 year rating on Pelican Brief is obviously wrong. (Murders, porno sounds, and so on)

There is something wrong with the transfer as well. Looks like compounded frame rate conversions, or some similar error. Almost unwatchable.

Oh, and do fix that iPad audio "quality" some day this decade...

The DVD release of Pelican Brief is rated 12 so it looks correct. Had a little play with the movie on my iPad and the picture quality looks the same as other movies to me, so I don't think there's an issue with the source file, the poor PQ you got could be down to some other factor.

As for the sound, I have to agree with you there, but you're well aware of NOW TV's shortcomings in that department!

I think the stream for iPads is different to the stream for the main system. Also, watching on an iPad is quite different from watching on a large TV. The issue was massive periodically recurring stuttering during any sort of motion. Very obvious error in transfer from the original -which in this case would have been 24 fps film. Looks like some multistep transfer was done -poorly. I've seen worse, but not by much. Lovefilm (now Amazon) had massive issues with pretty much all classical films. Seems today's engineers haven't got much of a clue about film and video, compared to when those technologies were separate from computers, managed by real experts, and delivered direct to TV-sets.

If you look on imdb it was a PG-13 in America so equivalent to our 12. Some film ratings are questionable.
