As the title says, I've just recieved my Combo kit ready for the go-live date which is scheduled for next Wednesday.
In the meantime, is there any reason why I can't set up my Smart Box in advance? OK, I know I'd have to change the wireless network access on it once my broadband is up and running, but I'm keen to get the Smart Box all booted up and see what it's about!

You are fine to set up the smart box now and connect it to your current wifi network. You should also be able to watch the pass you chose with your combo now as you get free access to it until your activation date.
