47 Ronin

Keanu Reeves is back in full action mode with this visually impressive samurai fantasy movie. When Keanu is drawn to help the legendary 47 Ronin to avenge the death of their master, he finds that a lot of courage and fancy swordplay goes a long way in this world full of witches, monsters and giants.

Moshi Monsters

The kids are really going to love this one! Poppet, Katsuma, Diavlo and the rest of the Moshi Monster gang are racing against the clock to stop Dr Strangeglove from carrying out his evil plan. There’s plenty of singing and dancing along the way in this colourful and, dare we say psychedelic, cartoon adventure.

Nothing Left To Fear

For the horror fans, Nothing Left To Fear is going to be your pick of the week. There’s an old urban legend that says that the cemetery in Stull, Kansas is one of the “Seven Known Gateways To Hell” (true story!) and this family finds that out the hard way when they move to Stull for a new start. This is the first movie from the Slasher Films production house set up by Guns ‘N’ Roses guitarist Saul ‘Slash’ Hudson, so listen out for his first big foray into film music composition – and there’ll be no Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door this time around!

Powder Room

A big night out can be an epic win or an epic fail. When Sam agrees to meet up with her old uni friends at a club, she makes up an elaborate story to try and look super successful. Of course some stories are hard to maintain – especially when you’re out with your besties and drinking shots. This is a great British comedy about life, friendship and those life-changing conversations that take place in the female loos.

Gremlins + Gremlins 2

The ultimate morality tale warning against buying an unusual pet as a last-minute Christmas gift has arrived! The 80s saw some great horror-comedy emerge and Gremlins must be one of the finest. When Billy is given a mogwai for Christmas he is told that there are only 3 rules in this particular pet-owner’s manual – don’t get it wet, don’t expose it to bright light and don’t feed it after midnight. But when he unwittingly breaks these rules, those cute little furballs turn in to mischievous and destructive little monsters.

Die Hard + Die Hard 2: Die Harder

John McClane always manages to find himself in the wrong place at the right time. The original Die Hard movie is an action classic and has Bruce Willis at his very best. With enough shoot-outs and explosions to keep the pace and enough one-liners to keep the smirk on your face, it’s no wonder it’s in IMDb’s Top 200. Can we get a yippee-ki-yay?!

28 Days Later + 28 Weeks Later

Danny Boyle’s classic tale 28 Days Later won a number or awards including Best Horror at the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films Awards and Best British Film at the Empire Awards. The start of the movie might be familiar to fans of The Walking Dead, with our main character waking up in a London hospital to find himself a rare survivor in a post-apocalyptic world following a viral epidemic that has turned most of the human race into what are best described as zombies. The sequel, 28 Weeks Later is an excellent continuation of the story and the two together make a Horror double that will have you wondering “what would happen if….”  for weeks.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

This timeless Chinese classic was a hit at the 2001 Academy Awards, taking out 4 Oscars -  that’s more than any other “foreign film” ever and it’s the only martial arts movie to have been nominated for a Best Picture Oscar. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is a visually beautiful movie with a great story and one definitely worth seeing.
