Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters
Percy Jackson is the son of Poseidon, which makes him not just a teen with some pretty cool abilities, but a demi-god. But that’s nothing out-of-the-ordinary where he lives - all of his friends are demi-gods and they’re going to need all the supernatural powers they can muster to overcome a whole raft of terrifyingly impressive monsters when they take up a quest to find the Golden Fleece and save their home. Based on a hit series of books and nominated for MTV’s ‘Summers Biggest Teen Bad A**’ Award, this fantasy adventure will definitely be a big hit with the whole family.

Blue Jasmine
Cate Blanchette and Alec Baldwin star in the latest award winning feature to be directed and written by Woody Allen. Woody Allen loves his neurotic characters, and in this instance it’s Jasmine – a woman used to living the high life in New York. When it all goes sour and she’s left with nothing, she takes the first first-class flight out of there so she can stay with her estranged sister and her family in a small house in San Francisco. Blanchette took out the 2014 Oscar for Best Actress for her role as Jasmine and, needless to say, it’s a performance you really must see.

Promised Land
Gas drilling is a hot topic in environmental circles at the moment, which makes Promised Land a very timely movie. Matt Damon and Francis McDormand star as the two corporate sales people who are charged with getting the locals of a rural town to sell the gas drilling rights to their land. But what they assume will be an easy job, given the tough economic climate, quickly turns into a very complicated debate about a very complicated issue.

Battle Of The Year
Who doesn’t love a good dance battle movie?! An unruly group of breakers is brought together for the ultimate b-boy boot camp with the hope of forming The Dream Team – an American team good enough to win the Battle Of The Year championship in Montpellier, France for the first time in 15 years. The battle is on!

This week we also added some great classics to our library.

There was a time not very long ago, when you couldn’t walk past a bookstore and not see Dan Brown’s novel, The Da Vinci Code in the front window. And its ongoing popularity was in no small part due to the success of the movie by the same name. Ron Howard directed a very strong cast including Tom Hanks, Audrey Tautou, Jean Reno and Sir Ian McKellen in this intriguing story of murders, mysteries and big, big secrets.

Here’s a little trip down memory lane for all you 70s and 80s kids – remember Herbie – the VW Beetle with a mind of its own and the number 53 on its doors? Or, more precisely, remember those times he went bananas and went to Monte Carlo? As of this week we now have three of the Herbie movies for you to reminisce with – Herbie Rides Again, Herbie Goes To Monte Carlo and Herbie Goes Bananas. If your kids haven’t seen these movies yet, we recommend you introduce them. Welcome back, Herbie!

Enjoy!
