@Anonymous User
Your old Sky box will still work as a Freesat from Sky box to receive free channels on it, but you won't be able to pause, record or watch any old recordings on the box anymore. Alternately you can give it to friends or family who want a Freesat box, or sell it on eBay (don't expect to get much for it).
Failing that, rather than dump it in the bin you can drop it off at a local recycling centre or return it for recycling free of charge.

Yes, I have the FreeSat working now. Not a bad selection, including
BBC, ITV, many Ch4 and Ch5, PBS America, Yesterday, News, Film4, some lesser movie channels, etc.

@Anonymous User there are some channels which are on Freesat which are not on Freeview too, so provided you are keeping the dish I would keep it.

Yes, I am printing out a culled list of the channels we like. Otherwise you skip around and around the many missing channels.
