As soon as I turn on my TV it seems to be automatically tuning to AV. Also when in Now TV it is saying I am not connected. However I clearly am connected to the Internet as I can use my laptop and iPad.

Have tried all your suggestions and still cannot connect even though I have access to the Internet.
can I upgrade to a new now tv black box.?

The information you provided did not help the problem. I purchased a new black Now TV Box and everything is working perfectly. My old white Now TV Box was clearly faulty.
