move a master socket to different room.

Hi there,

just got Now broadband installed, wi fi does not reach to other rooms, would it be possible to get it moved to a diferent room? would it cost us anything? would a ADSL 10m cable be a solution?

Thanks

You could move the router with a longer DSL cable (not telephone extension cable) but really you probably just need a better router than Now provide.

Have you previously had broadband there, and did that reach the other rooms?

To follow-up from @Jayach unless prices are cheaper elsewhere just get a router from a third party website as the speeds won’t change.

FYI that I do not work for NOW, just a NOW customer trying to help

You need the router as close to the centre of your property as possible, so putting it there will improve things, but it may still not reach everywhere you need it to.

Try sourcing a Sky SR203 router from eBay or similar; it will go straight on as a replacement for the Now router, so no complex reconfiguration or worrying if it supports Sky MER 61, and the WiFi range will be much better.

Just keep the Now router ready to put back on if you ever have to pretend to Now Broadband support that that is what you are using 😛

Set a Payment PIN on your account so that no-one but you can buy memberships on it.
Check your bank accounts monthly for any other unexpected payments to Now.
That way you can at least nip them in the bud, while you and Now figure out whose fault they are.
