Slow speed

Our speed is very slow and only reached one room...is that normal. Think we will swap providers as soon as our contract allows.

No internet when connected to router but can access the internet when connected to the extender

I've had to buy a wifi extender so it could reach the office. But if I connect my laptop in the same room as the router it won't connect to the Internet but if I use the extender I can access it. I don't understand can anyone help? It's so frustratin...
