Why can't my next door neighbour get broadband

Hi. I have now broadband and landline (superfibre) at my address. My elderly next door neighbour would like the same but when I try to book it, it say not available at his address? He has a BT line to his house.

Cheers

Many companies are going to be stopping the selling of FTTC broadband. Even switching is classed as a new install and might not be permitted.

Hi cheers for reply. What is FTTC? He has just canceled his virgin landline due to crappy customer service, not in a contract or switching.

Fibre to the cabinet with fibre coming to the property via an ancient copper wire. Whereas Sky and BT will offer FTTP which is the same as Virgin in fibre all the way to the property.

FTTP will give you more speed (by a lot) and a far more reliable connection.

Nothing to do with NOW (well in terms of FTTP that’s another story!), in fact OpenRreach are in the process of switching off the FTTC network. Which means some areas will be in a stop sell of FTTC this includes switches.

Have a wee read at this.

I just want to contact now to ask. It would appear it's easier to contact the pope than now.

If he/you are now in a stop-sell area for FTTC, then there will be many suppliers of FTTP, should he wish to get away from Virgin.

Try going via a comparison site, one I like to use is MSE. (Money Saving Expert)

However it will require a new fibre connection being installed. (no charge)
