Someone tried to use my credit card fraudulently earlier today so MBNA have cancelled my card
I have put in new card details, but I assume that will only apply to the next payment on 24/12/22???

Payment for what? TV or broadband?
Generally TV payments will be attempted for a few days until the system "gives up".
