received a hub 2 today. JUst for my computer. got a password and PIN. where do I input these?

my friend says I have to plug the router into the mains, AND THEN I have to plug the router into the phone. I am moving into a new place and do not think there is a phone jack on the wall. Does that mean I have to get a line installed? and thanks for...
