Welcome to the forum. Your Chromecast streams directly from the NOW TV servers rather than your iPad sending the stream to it (the iPad just sends the command to your Chromecast telling it what you want to watch) so it's possible your issue was just a case of poor wifi connection on your iPad at that time. You may well find it just works fine now, or if not try a reboot of your router.
