Sky Sports News

Hello, my sky sports month pass ran out at the weekend and now I can't get Sky Sports News? I thought I was entitled to the sports news channel for a month after the pass ended? I got it the last time my pass ended for one month.

@Anonymous User it's available for 30 days after you first active a sports pass, so day users get the most amount of extra time, whilst month users get none.

Indeed... but as we also know 'some people' still get confused with regard to accessing Sky Sports News HQ...

No doubt somebody will raise the question, "why can't I have/get the 'Sky Sports News HQ App' on my Xbox?" or something to that effect Smiley Surprised

But sufficed to say they can't because the 'Sky Sports News HQ App' is a perk app for NOW TV branded device owners only 🙂

Cheers

Dont think some people are confused that the Sky Sports News app is only a perk on Now tv branded devices. Its more the fact as mentioned before that you can buy a discounted box and one pass and pay less then someone who has say three passes on another device and over the course of a year or more that can add up to a lot more money for less of a product.

So its a perk for some customers and a penalty  for others. And its not the same as Sky not giving channels to BT or Virgin as we are all paying for Now tv to the same company, the easiest thing would be to have put Sky sports news in the entertainment pass as surely its people buying the monthly passes that make the profit year after year not a small mark up on a box.

Welcome to the forum.

It depends if you have a NOW TV box or not.

If you do, then your entertainment pass gives you access to the separate Sky Sports News HQ app on the box to watch the channel for as long as your entertainment pass is active. This is a bonus feature for having a NOW TV box however, so if you don't have a box, then you need a valid sports pass to be able to watch the Sky Sports News HQ channel.

I have 2 Now boxes Google Chrome and a Anroid Tablet

Why Is it that my two Now boxes will show sky sport news

BUT my Google Chrome and Anroid Tablet will not

The Sky Sports News HQ app on the box is a bonus app only available on the box. It allows anyone with a NOW TV pass access to Sky Sports News HQ via the app to watch the channel for as long as your monthly pass is active (or 30 days from the activation of a day or week sports pass).

This is a bonus feature for having a NOW TV box however, so on all other devices the only way to watch Sky Sports News HQ is via a valid sports pass.

Every time this question is asked we are told it is a bonus/reward for using a Now tv box.But again like every time i ask why? having been paying for films & tv for 3 years do i not deserve a reward? I use a Roku which is part owned by Sky  so why not put it on Roku's as well because theres still a profit being made on that box which can cost even more to buy.

I dont believe there is that much profit on a Now tv box anyway as most of the time they are discounted, and so cheap some people buy them just for the passes.

I understand the idea of a reward to stop people using a competiting service like BT etc, but not over people paying the same price as others on a service.

AS an example someone buys a as box for £14.99 & a years entertainment £6.99  x 12 = £98.87 and gets the sports app

i buy a Roku (still some profit to Sky)  then add films £9.99  & entertainment £6.99 X 12 =£203.76 for no sports app

I think that more then covers the price of a box and builds up year after year.

Totally agree. Though some of the mods/admins think differently.
