I had a bad experience with Now TV trying to watch the old firm match too.  Their site is difficult to navigate and low on usability.  Their technology appears to be the cheap option.  It hasn't worked on my PC for both occassions I bought a Sports day pass.

Never once have I needed to contact BT or Amazon for help when streaming their video services.  If only Now TV were as good.

Hi @Anonymous User

Silverlight by any chance? First things first, if you're using Windows what version of Windows are you using because if you're using Windows 8 or Windows 10 and you're not using VGA as your display interface. Then you shouldn't be using Silverlight any more

If you're using Windows 8 or above you can use the now TV Windows 8/10 app instead of Silverlight. This bypasses Silverlight completely, which means you should have far less issues. The app can be downloaded using the Microsoft store on Windows 8/10. It is downloaded and installed free of charge, but you will need a Microsoft account.

Be aware that the nowTV app will be seen as a different device by now TVs systems. So if you have four devices in your account. You would need to remove one of them

Another bonus of the Windows 8 app is that you get 720p HD on demand.

If you run into into device management issues live chat might sort this out for you. If you explain the problems you've been having with Silverlight and the fact that you have Windows 8\10

To get to live chat click here. Then scroll down to the bottom of the page. Click "contact us" and then click "live chat".

Hope that helps Smiley Happy

I'm running Windows 7.  Once again I have no issues with Silverlight watching streams from Amazon and BT.

No offense but you just jumped to conclusions and come across like you think it's down to me doing something wrong and causing Now's service not to work.  Typical.  In my own thread "Can't watch Sports on PC" not one advisor was able to offer a shred of useful information.  And again no offense, but neither have you.

It's my belief Now TV should be informing customers their service doesn't work on PC's running Windows 7.  Unless you can say definitively that it does?

Hi @Anonymous User

I'm sorry if you feel I jumped to conclusions half the people now who have problems on Windows PCs are using Silverlight when they have Windows 8/10. Using Silverlight when you have Windows 8 or 10 is not recommended for a lot of people are usually fine when they're directed towards the app. But to be fair, you didn't say what OS you are using, so I had to go for the common denominator and I did ask you in the post. What OS you are using. I gave you the other information. Just in case it would help you.

With regard to Silverlight, and now TV, it should work with Windows 7, but whether it will or not will depend on a number of factors. But there are some key things to remember when using Silverlight for now TV

  • Silverlight must be used with a 32-bit web browser and you need to use the Silverlight version that corresponds with your OS version. So if you're using 32-bit Windows 7 you need the 32-bit version of Silverlight. If you're using the 64-bit version of Windows 7 you need the 64-bit version of Silverlight.
  • when you're using Firefox Silverlight plug-in must be allowed to run. The best way to ensure this is to go into the plug-in settings and set Silverlight to always run
  • make sure you have the latest graphics drivers your PC
  • make sure your antivirus/security software isn't preventing Silverlight and running. Recently security software from several fenders has started treating Silverlight with contempt.

Silverlight has been given its end date as a technology by the end of 2021. It will no longer be supported by Microsoft. The only updates Silverlight gets now are the odd security update and that's it. Some browsers have already discontinued support Silverlight. But for the time being. If you use Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer. It should still work

As for using Silverlight with Amazon I wouldn't recommend that either. I believe that if you use Google Chrome Amazon will use their browser-based HTML5 playback solution.
