Does Now automatically contact old provider or must I ?



if your old provider was on Openreach, then Now will contact them on your behalf. If not - Virgin, say - you will need to contact them yourself.

However, Now will know what needs doing, so when you contact Now and tell them who your current provider is, Now will be able to advise you if they (Now) can handle the whole process or not.

It’s much better to have Now do it, if they can, as this will minimise the gap between ceasing the old provider, and activating with Now. Especially if you get caught with one of the interminable delays to activation that we keep hearing about on here, as everyone struggles to implement the new arrangements that Openreach’s Copper Stop Sell and VoIP changes have brought about.

Set a Payment PIN on your account so that no-one but you can buy memberships on it.
Check your bank accounts monthly for any other unexpected payments to Now.
That way you can at least nip them in the bud, while you and Now figure out whose fault they are.
