my avast security is telling me that i am vulnerable as there is an open port and to go into admin settings for the sky hub and close it. i have no idea what this is, i have gone into settings and can find no way to close ports and no info on any of the help pages, seems hns wan is something to do with it. i do have the settings of the hub set up to the highest security so have no idea what to do. any advice please. many thanks.

If you see the following links it would appear to be associated with TRS-069 (CPE WAN Management Protocol CWMP) which is used by ISPs to auto-configure routers. I'm not sure if Sky/Now actually use it but it maybe built into the firmware for future use.
Port 30005 (tcp/udp) :: SpeedGuide
If you describe how you are testing for open ports maybe some other Now users can see if they get the same results. (I'm not yet on Now, but my current ISP, Vodafone, definitely do use it so it will be interesting to see if it says the same for me)
