received a hub 2 today. JUst for my computer. got a password and PIN. where do I input these?

Here’s the Now setup procedure:-

In Step 6 you may be asked to input the Password or you may be asked to input the the PIN instead.
Follow the setup instructions, see which you are asked for, and input it.
Please note that Now instructions may erroneously say that the password can, or should, be entered in all capitals. This is not true; enter the characters in lower case or upper case exactly as shown on the paperwork, and on the underside of the hub, where it should show the same password.

my friend says I have to plug the router into the mains, AND THEN I have to plug the router into the phone. I am moving into a new place and do not think there is a phone jack on the wall. Does that mean I have to get a line installed? and thanks for your helpful reply

Bit confused as to why you are asking how to setup the hub, if you aren't in the premises yet?
If you have told Now the address where you are moving to, they should have arranged for Openreach to install a line if necessary. It obviously won't happen until you are in residence.
