Will landline work if router not plugged in

I’m in the process of switching my mother’s landline to NOW. She doesn’t use broadband but I’ve ordered a broadband package with free landline calls. I am not going to be there on the ‘go live’ date meaning the router will not be plugged in until some time after the go live date - will her landline still work during the time that the router is not plugged in?

If your Mother is not using the internet with another ISP, then you could plug the NOW Hub Router in advance before her live scheduled internet date.

Or 

The telephone line should work without the NOW Hub Router connected, but when you have chance plug the NOW Router in, so your Mother's online NOW account Orders and Appointments status updates itself.
