Having checked that the NowTV broadband router NR801 is the same kit as the Sky SR102, it looks like we need a software update.

You are perhaps best to call the broadband team. As this is a customer forum you will get conversation and speculation from us.

The NR801 (aka Now TV Hub Two) is actually a based on the SkyQ ER115 router.
It was the previous NR701 that was based on the Sky SR101/2 router.

You know Guys
In my own experience, in bouncing from ISP to ISP over the years, is that modem/router security tends to be more of an after thought than a primnary concern. ISPs tend to favour convinience, easy of use, cost, etc., while security comes way down the list.
I was with an ISP that would update their supplied modem/router that would make it easier for "game players" to play online games, this made my Internet connection less secure. As soon as I found this out I undid most of what they did and put in a formal complaint, i.e. I don't play online games.
Another ISP, I've used, make updates to their supplied modem/router where it is almost impossible for a user to tell when or what update as been applied and for what reason. So unless you notice a change in how the router's application looks and/or operates you'll never know.
The above two examples are typical, in my experience, of how most UK ISP operates.
