I should be able to transfer largish files between devices on my LAN at a maximum of 125mb/s if this router is truly working at 1gig speed. However my current max is about 13mb/s between two devices with SSDs. There's nothing else on the network to interfere with this either.
Any options for fiddling with the router? I don't have too long until I move so buying a 3rd party router is an option but a last resort.

Well worth a read here:-

Convention: b = bit B = byte
A rule of thumb is that it takes 10 bits to transfer an 8-bit byte, so your theoretical max would be more like 100 mBps. But that would be flat-out burst mode, jumbo frames, with no handshaking or error correction, which you also won’t achieve.
Real-world numbers max out at about 65 mBps, according to article 2.
13mBps is better than a 100 mBps link can theoretically achieve, and about twice what it can practically achieve, so I guess your device is Gigabit. So maybe no call for a new router on that score?
OTOH, something is holding it down to a fifth of what you could perhaps strive for.
Both articles cover a wealth of reasons why your speed might be slower than 65 mBps; it would be good to work through them, and see where you might make some performance gains.
