Phone line problem - dialling out and receiving in

My phone line is making the correct dial tone when I pick it up but if I dial a number a prolonged beep sounds and does not connect to the other line.

I have tried numerous numbers (and made sure they were correct) Also when someone dials in they are unable to connect to me as it makes an engaged signal. Both my land line phones are definitly not connected to another line and therefore shouldn't be "engaged".

 

Please help this is important as I have limited network on my mobile so rely on the land line.

NB: broadband is working ok & phones are fully charged

Normally the best way to resolve this is to call the broadband team who will deal with any landline issues. Number in the link below.

If you rather you can email support, but I would say you’ll get a faster resolution via calling the team on your mobile. See below picture for email address

Thanks for that info.

Have contacted them and was greeted by a recorded message saying they were aware of faults on some lines. Will give it until tomorrow and if no improvement will follow up with an email,
