Moving House: Do I need to ask BT not to disconnect the landline?

Hi,

I'm moving to a different property soon and have signed up with NowTV for broadband.

The letting agency has mentioned contacting BT to ask them not to disconnect the phone line when the current tenants leave at the end of the month, in order for the line to still be used for our new broadband and avoid any reconnection fees by BT.

Is this a thing? Do I really need to do this if we're moving into the property very soon after the current tenants leave?

I can't find any info here or on BT about it. I would assume NowTV handle all the line rental as it's included in the package and I don't technically have any contract with BT?

Why not ask the NowTV Broadband team?

Set a Payment PIN on your account so that no-one but you can buy memberships on it. Check your bank accounts monthly for any other unexpected payments to Now. That way you can at least nip them in the bud, while you and Now figure out whose fault they are.
