Intermittent High ping / Slow connection

Most of the time my connection is decent enough for streaming services, video calls, etc

But if I play online games, after a few minutes my ping becomes highly variable, showing values above 1000 ms and then briefly comes back to normal values like 30ms. And keeps cycling high/low ping.

This PC is connected via Ethernet, not Wifi.

Once the behaviour starts, it then affects all devices connected to the router. Not just the PC.

It then comes back to normal some 10-15 minutes after I stop playing the game

Have you been a customer for longer than 10 days I take it?

Can I assume you’ve tried the old “unplug and reset router”? 

Could be a fault on your line or the main feeding your line. Give the broadband team a call, number in the link below.

Correct I have been a customer for more than 10 days, 18 months actually,
and tried to reset the router.

What is you package and actual speed. Also how many devices sharing the broadband.

I have "Brilliant Broadband" and speed is 15 Mbps download and 0.9 Mbps
upload.
I have max 5 devices connected on the wifi.
