Changing provider, I now have unusable internet.

So after COVID affecting things, I needed to reduce my bills somewhat and one of the biggest savings was with my broadband. I made the order for another provider on the 4th August whilst I was at work but when I get home the internet is at 120Kbps download. Suddenly unusable. I've never had issues with our service, it's been spectactular really apart from Sky outages locally during COVID. I've paid my bill for this month, so why should I essentially be without internet until my new provider takes over?

Has anyone else come across this issue before? I feel like I'm being punished because I'm changing provider.
